Meeting the Brief:
The brief that my client has set is to create a three-storey bouldering centre with a budget of £3million. I have met this brief whilst sustaining low costs so I am under budget and have a sustainable design. My design will meet the end function and users of the building due to a specific target market.
Users:
The main users of my building will be local climbers, however, other people from local, surrounding areas may take an interest in the sport. Hopefully all of the main users will be satisfied with the design as it includes all the fundamental components of a climbing centre and the building is easy to circulate.
The Layout and Orientation:
Due to the layout of my building users will be able to navigate the building more efficiently and easily. I also have a fairly concrete design as all of my sketches and plans have the same underlying design ideas and relate to each. Due to the layout the building will be able to be adapted and extended when the requirements of the user changes as there is plenty more space on the site and some of the exterior walls will be suitable for knocking down.
Setting:
The building should be accepted into its surroundings as the sedum roof allows it to blend in with the park, yet the modern element allows it to subtly stand out in its own, unique way.
I did my verbal presentation in front of my classmates as well as teachers from the engineering faculty. I also skyped my client so that they could also watch the verbal presentation.
