Throughout the build we have maintained the cost to be under budget, therefore if any elements of the building were to cost a little more we could afford it and there would still be a lot of money left over. This money can be used for the interior of the building and the path as well as any additional exterior lights and features. We have met the client's needs by incorporating all of the facilities that they requested and maximised the space allowed. The client also requested that we were able to allow the most sunlight into the building to give it an outdoors-like feel which we have achieved through the use of the south-facing glass wall. This also gives the building a modern aesthetic which the client requested and this was also enhanced through the use of timber cladding so that the building was in harmony with its surroundings, another target that the client asked for. The building is also easily accessible for all as there is a path leading straight from a prominent pavement as well as excessive car parking space from Craven Leisure Centre. There is also only a short walk from both the bus station and train station. The client wanted the building to be open plan and this target has been met by only using adjacent walls in the upstairs bouldering rooms and only using doors where required. There was also a request for a specialised strength and conditioning area and this target has been met as it is situated upstairs and will contain campus boards and other specialist equipment. There is also a shop for equipment and a large open plan café and a private kitchen for staff to prepare food for visitors. The design of the building is also sustainable and the client asked for some elements of sustainability therefore a sedum roof has been included and the use of timber cladding is also sustainable.
