This is the letter that I wrote to my client:
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Ela Richardson and I am a student in year 10 at Skipton Girls’ High School. For my engineering GCSE option, I have chosen a course called Design Engineer Construct (DEC). For this course my brief is to design and construct in a 3D environment a new building that would be situated in Aireville Park, a park situated close to the school. I have carried out research on the local people of this area, Skipton and the results show that sport is the most popular area that people enjoy and spend their disposable income on. Thus, I have chosen to design and construct a bouldering centre as it is a sport that cannot be accessed easily as the nearest centres are Harrogate, Leeds and Manchester.
I have personally chosen to ask you to become my pseudo-client as you have an extensive knowledge of climbing. This would include myself interviewing you either through Skype or similar, over the phone or, if possible, you to come to be interviewed in person; this would need to be on a Thursday 19th January between 1:05 and 2:20 in the afternoon and it would also need to be someone from the senior management/manager of the centre. This would be to answer some questions, set a budget for the project, the size and style for me so that I can then create a client brief. Furthermore, I would need to update you throughout the year, probably via email, so that you can give me small pieces of feedback on how to improve my project. At the end of the year the school will host an open evening so that you can view the final project, potentially, through a virtual reality headset if you wish to come.
Many thanks,
Ela Richardson
